I do not own this bike any longer due to moving to a larger bike, but have left this site online so others can get an owners perspective and info on this great 125

This page is dedicated to the HN125-8 and was made for anyone who owns or is interested in buying one of these bikes, I decided to make this as there was very little info on this bike in the UK or possibly anywhere.  I first typed some of these comments on the "Fear Of Fish" blog site owned by Jamie van Dyke but decided to make my own site up to show that I at least was happy with this bike.

Myself, I have had bikes in the far distant past in my youth, these were mainly Suzuki, with my main bike being a Suzuki GT185 when I was 17 which I owned from new for several years, although at some point I have had bikes ranging from  from 50cc to 500cc. Like most people as I got older I left bikes behind but over the years always wanted another, yes IM a born again biker (BAB). Several things came together that made me want another bike last year. First I started to watch the series Long Way Round, with Ewan Mcgregor & Charley Boorman, I loved this series and wished it had been me on that trip. Now where I work I pass a Suzuki Marauder every day and thought that it was a nice looking bike, despite never really liking cruiser styles before, there is also a friend called Steve who always brought around his latest bike and kept me interested in the possibility of another bike. The final inspiration came from reading MicroMart computer magazine, one of the reviewers was reviewing a top of the range graphics card and he mentioned that you could actually buy a scooter on ebay for the same price as this card and asked the question, How? So this got me thinking..

I start looking through bike mags, local papers and free ad papers but was shocked to find the price of secondhand bikes was far higher than expected and it seems you could pay £500 or more for a 125 that might be 15 or even 20 years old, amazing as last time I had a bike, the same ones I was looking at now they were less than that new back then.. But I had noticed Chinese bikes were mentioned a lot and these seemed a lot cheaper, now thinking of the pound shops where I once bought some cheap Chinese hacksaw blades that even refused to cut my wrists and hearing many tales of shoddy goods I just did not entertain them at first but browsing in a local bike shop I saw something which made me go Chinese it was an AJS Regal Raptor DD125E (aka Jinlun 125-13) I thought this bike was the Bee's Knees, not like most bland looking 125s It looked great.. Unfortunately I was on a £1000 cash budget that had to include bike, bike gear, insurance and CBT and the bike in question started at £1000 to £1400 without any of the extras I would have to budget for, yep I could have bought the bike but it would have been sitting there until I could afford the rest, torturous to say the least. So  remembering MicroMarts reviewer I started to look at some of the Chinese bikes on ebay, It did not take long to find LS Imports and there range of bikes and scooters (Someone I know said just get a scooter they look nice, believe me I nearly passed out with the thought *@*!!!) So I came to their £500 Sanya, well it was within my budget and perfect for me but it did not do anything for me, nice but bland, if you know what I mean, so came across the £550 HN125, now after looking at the AJS it sorta looked odd, US custom styling but in a 1980s way, the sort of commuter bike that's been pumped up for the US market with high bars, upswept exhaust and stepped seat and in no way a proper cruiser style like the AJS but I pondered and finally gave in and bought one.

This site contains info from how and when I purchased the bike, its setup and daily running, tech tips, pictures and links are included.
